Open Source & Open Data

mobi.mapr follows an open-source and open-data strategy. Our goal is to make the data behind the model available for use without complicated or expensive procedures.
On this page, you’ll find an overview of the available data!

Open Data

The data from public projects is licensed under a CC-BY-4.0-Lizenz.

You may:

  • Share — reproduce and distribute the material in any format or medium, for any purpose, including commercial use.
  • Adapt — remix, modify, and build upon the material, for any purpose, including commercial use.
  • The licensor cannot revoke these freedoms as long as you comply with the license terms.

Under the following conditions::

  1. Attribution — You must provide appropriate copyright and rights notices, include a link to the license, and indicate whether any changes have been made. These notices may be provided in any reasonable manner, but not in a way that suggests the licensor specifically endorses you or your use.
  2. No Additional Restrictions — You may not apply additional terms or technical measures that legally prevent others from doing anything the license permits.

You can download a project’s data from the dashboard using the download button (bottom right).

You are welcome to use the data freely. We would also appreciate it if you could let us know when the data is used in a practical context, such as in the media, for planning, or in other applications.

You can do that here, for example. We’d also appreciate a quick, informal update!

Open API

The mapr.mobi backend API is fully publicly accessible and available at api.mapr.mobi. We have made a conscious decision to prioritize openness so that developers, local governments, and interested third parties can integrate mapr.mobi’s data and features into their own applications, analyses, or services.

Complete documentation of all available endpoints can be viewed via the Swagger interface at https://api.mapr.mobi/swagger/. There, you can explore and test all routes directly in your browser. We welcome feedback from real-world use: If you use the API, encounter any issues, or have suggestions for improvement, please feel free to contact us—every piece of feedback helps us further develop our service.

Open-Source-Frontend

The entire source code for the mapr.mobi frontend is released as open source under the GNU Affero General Public License v3.0 (AGPL-3.0). This license ensures that further developments and derivative works also remain open—in line with the goal of a transparent and reusable digital ecosystem in the public sector.

The repository is available on two platforms: GitHub and OpenCode, the German government’s open-source platform. We expressly welcome contributions from the community—whether bug fixes, new features, translations, or constructive feedback in the issue tracker. Anyone who would like to get involved is warmly welcome!
